High End Retouching Workshop with Pratik Naik

It’s been a while since we’ve hosted an international facilitator here at home. The last few workshops/sessions we’ve had have been with our local talent – with topics ranging from staying relevant in an ever changing photographic environment, to marketing yourself across social media. One topic we’ve not yet covered is that of high end retouching.

In that regard we’re very pleased to be hosting Pratik Naik on the 22nd and 23rd April 2014 for a two day seminar and workshop, during which Pratik will take you through his entire retouching process, focusing on portraits, beauty and fashion, with the objective of making them perfect without looking plastic. Pratik’s methods are elegant and simple and result in a streamlining of your workflow, saving you hours of time and effort. Your results will be professional, clean and realistically flawless.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

Till Next Time Tony!

First things first – thanks to all of you who attended our Tony Corbell Workshop this past weekend – we had a great mix of photographers at all levels and had a fantastic time learning and sharing together!

It’s impossible to describe how much we benefitted from being able to lime one on one with Tony – he’s a great guy (and he’s hot!:) and he’s very generous with sharing his considerable knowledge on not just lighting and photography, but the business aspect of it too. (He’s also unbelievable with people’s names and directions – ask anyone who was at his workshop last year! We won’t embarrass ourselves by telling you that HE had to set us on course when some of us who shall remain nameless got lost:)

Tony – it was our absolute pleasure having you here with us once more – hopefully the next time you come you’ll be able to stay a few days extra for us to show you around some more and, to our attendees and well wishers – your support and feedback means everything to us here at Team PPW – we look forward to having more and more of these sessions and meeting more of you!:)

Till the next one!

Understanding and controlling the quality of light is at the core of all Tony Corbell’s presentations. Attendees will learn how to see a unique perspective and not be afraid to push the limits of their experience and talents. Corbell will discuss all types of lighting and its tools in depth. Lighting tools include portable flash, studio strobes, sunlight and ambient light. Lighting applications include additive, subtractive, reflective and transmission. Each combination of tool and application will be shown and discussed in detail. Corbell will discuss the importance of control in digital capture and how a few seconds of extra time spent on capture can save hours in post-production. Light quality as well as light quantity and how light direction plays a significant role in the resulting mood of an image is another essential discussion topic. An expert on the subject of light control, Corbell has been teaching lighting concepts, theories and techniques for more than twenty years. His week-long workshops on this topic always fill to capacity, making this a presentation not to be missed.

DG in T&T (or, a Montage to Get You in Gear for the Next One!:)

DG in T&T. Yup, that’s the link to a video montage of clips from our Doug Gordon workshop held in March/April this year at the Crowne Plaza in POS, Trinidad.

We thought we’d put it together as a teaser to remind you of the great time we had and as a prelude to our workshop planned in mid-September with Master Photographer, Lighting Guru God, and All-Round Great Guy who’s been here with us once before to sold out success (have we said too much?:), Tony Corbell.

Those workshop tickets are going to be going on sale soon, along with some early-bird savings and freebies, so stay tuned!:)

And just like that, it’s over…

We had a fantastic time here in T&T at our workshop over the past 2 days! Words can’t describe the personality that is Doug Gordon – he defies imagination. He’s loud, funny, shocking and sincere, and a truly genuine human being. He also knows his craft like nobody’s business, and managed to compress over 250 wedding/high fashion flow poses, lighting techniques and business savvy, into 2 days and 25 minds.

We can’t say ‘thank you’ enough to all of you who came out and made this workshop the comfortable, collaborative experience it turned out to be. It was truly great to meet all of you and to realise that we’re on the right track with what the future of our industry should be – colleagues working together to share knowledge and time in an atmosphere of mutual respect and admiration. And of course, we have to thank Doug, who gave more of himself than I think any of us expected, partial nudity especially (:p)…

We look forward to seeing many of you again over the course of this and following years, and promise to have another top notch workshop in the area very, very soon!

And The Countdown Begins!

Well everyone, this time next week we’ll be working feverishly to make sure everything is all systems go for the Wedding & Portrait Workshop at the Crowne Plaza with the man himself – Doug Gordon.

It’s taken a lot of work and preparation to get here – more sleepless nights and bottles of Tums than we care to recall, but it’s all been worth it – including the ominous mushroom cloud seen in the vicinity of our bank accounts recently! Anything to bring the best to you in practically your own backyard.

We’re also expecting our shipment of goodies and giveaways to arrive this weekend and are psyched that we’re kicking 2011 off with such a bang!

There are very few spaces left, so if you haven’t made up your mind yet/your bank account is also seeing signs of mushroom cloud activity/you suffer from last-minute-itis like we do, it’s not too late to register – yet!

See you next week!
